This Sunday after service the board came together and spoke about next steps with regards to the current COVID-19 pandemic in the GTA and surrounding area. This notice is to advise you of Knox United Church’s response to the situation.
We, like other communities of faith, are working to ensure that we can best serve our community of faith and community members. In response to recommendations from Peel Region Health and United Church Regional
WE ARE SUSPENDING WORSHIP AND OTHER NON-ESSENTIAL GATHERINGS IN OUR BUILDING UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE
The exception to this will be our current rental group on Thursday nights and our building cleaning persons. We recognize the importance of staying connected and we urge you to find ways to do this through social media, telephone, or email.
I will remain available for pastoral care emergencies and encourage you to connect with me over email or by phone if needed. This can be for a quick check in or a chat. If you or someone you know may require support or assistance in our congregation or community please tell someone on the board or myself. It will be important for us to be mindful of each other and those who are not driving, those who are not as mobile and those who are alone.
I will be sending emails every week which will include a thought for the day, scripture for the week, my message and a prayer. Along with this weekly email I will let you know of any updates with regards to COVI-19 I will do my best to provide updates on the church website https://knox-united-church.org/and Facebook pagehttps://www.facebook.com/Knox-United-Church-Caledon-136196009738679
If you know someone who isn’t able to get this message through email please contact them directly or let members of the board or myself know and we will do that.
I am grateful that by doing this we are keeping each other and our community safe through social distancing. I pray that soon we will return to a more normal routine, but until then as we are in Lent, I guess we are fasting from worship at this time. However, this is also a time of reflection and mindfulness on humanity and the world. So stay well, be in touch in new creative ways and sing your hymns and prayers perhaps while washing your hands! :)
May God be with you.
Rev. Emma Pipes
We have a number of congregations offering livestreams for worship, and would love other communities of faith to join them. Lots of amazing options! This may be a way for you to “attend church elsewhere for a change”.
