AFFIRMING MINISTRIES PROGRAM
The Affirming Ministries Program is a network of primarily United Church ministries that strive to be fully inclusive of people of all sexual orientations and gender identities. You don’t have to be United Church to take part, though!
Before becoming formally Affirming, local churches, colleges, church courts, assisted living homes, outdoor ministries, and other ministries study and reflect on gender identities and expressions and sexual orientations; make a statement of welcome; make changes to key policies and their building as necessary; and commit themselves to work for justice and inclusion within their community of faith, the wider church, and their community. The program was launched in 1992. The United Church officially endorsed the program in 2000 and encouraged its ministries to participate. Right now there are over 100 ministries in the Affirming process and over 200 Affirming ministries in communities of all kinds in every part of Canada!

You're Invited!!! Knox United Church will be officially designated as an Affirming Ministry within Affirm United/S’affirmer Ensemble. As the first official Affirming community of faith in Caledon, ON we are thrilled to be hosting a service of celebration and joy! Publicly declaring our commitment to inclusion and justice for people of all sexual orientations & gender identities and to the creation of inclusive communities of faith.
A huge thank you to our supporters and guests over the years as we have worked towards shining light on God's love for us all.
We hope to see some old friends and new friends as well as community members in our midst who want to celebrate this public, explicit and intentional commitment to and with 2SLGBTQIA+ folk.

We are THRILLED to announce that, during our AGM, we have voted overwhelmingly (94%) in favour of becoming an AFFIRMING MINISTRY with Affirm United/S’affirmer Ensemble.
Since our journey began in 2018 we have shared in storytelling, education, worship, celebration and fellowship in preparation to make it official.
As an Affirming Congregation, we believe that, “God has created and is creating”. We seek to be engaged in faithful welcome to the Spirit working between and for all living things.
We are committed to following Jesus‘ example as we embrace people of all ages, racialized groups, genders, sexual orientations, gender identities, ethnic origins, economic circumstances, differing abilities and challenges in the ministry and life of our community of faith.
